TESTIMONIALS

Just wanted to tell you that I finished reading your book and really enjoyed it. I found it to be very honest when you
were speaking of your experiences….Your story really resonated with me when it came to the binge eating and the
feeling associated with it. Not to mention the family members whom, even though they may have good intentions, make you
feel like an "out of control glutton"….. Having you….speak to people will help them understand that they are not alone and
that great things are possible if they commit themselves.

Thanks again for everything

I’m so impressed and, if I may be so presumptuous as to say – proud- of you for the book and the story that inspired it.
I know from working as a writer for many years that it is not easy to be honest and open in writing one’s own story.
And there you are in your book, telling the painful details about your life with such openness that it actually brought
tears to my eyes….What an amazing journey, my dear!

* I just wanted to say once more, thank you for your courage, your determination and for sharing it…and accomplishing your goals so that others would know that a hurdle like this, is completely attainable.

It isn't just one thing that stood out in the book. It is the entire story……of struggling to believe in oneself and one's abilities….It takes many a run at things sometimes, before we finally conquer something. Your lesson to us is so precious.

* I just finished your book.  It took me a while but each time I had a moment I read your book.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it inspirational in how you took it upon yourself to do something about your weight.
Just like you I have struggled to maintain a healthy body weight all my life.  Now that I am in my middle 50’s it is even more important to me to keep my weight in check in order to lower my blood pressure.

I also found that your emphasis on exercise extremely valuable. I preach it to all my friends.  The older you get the more important it is to exercise.  I am passing your book on to a dear friend who is just newly separated and raising 2 teenagers on her own.  Just like us she is struggling to shed pounds and also maintain a normal family life for her children.  Your book will help her see that she needs to start making time for herself so she can be around for her children and herself for a long, long time.

Thanks again Alicia.

P.S.  Please let me know if you decide to write anymore follow ups on your book.

Thank you for sharing your story ... thank you for inspiring so many ... I walked a little taller this morning... saw things I had never before noticed ... a different perspective on life after having read the first few chapters on my train ride in.

Thank you for you.

* I am thrilled to see someone who has lost weight as a “Side Effect” of getting healthy!  To become fit requires
diet and exercise…no questions asked.  It is thrilling to see someone who “Gets IT!”

You cannot do it through dieting alone PERIOD.   I am so tired of looking for the quick fix.  I too am like Alicia,
in that I can gain 7 pounds in a week if I let myself.  I am not there… but I have to accept the fact that I HAVE to exercise,
in order to be fit…..Theoretically easy… but for me….hmmmm still hate exercise… so I have to do everything
I can to keep motivated, and your book motivated me for it.

Thanks and good luck – changing the world!  (1 person at a time)

* Alicia’s story of how, at the age of 42, she decided to make some dramatic changes in her life is a poignant, touching and ultimately inspiring tale. Within the space of 15 months she lost 173 pounds and began running – since then has completed 18 marathons, including the Boston Marathon. Her story is self-effacing and honest, straight-forward and uplifting and wonderfully documents how a person can choose to make a significant and positive change in their lifestyle and come out on top of something that has plagued them their entire lives. I put this book down feeling inspired and motivated and know that her
tale is going to help so many in the pursuit of their own dreams and desires.
